Active mobility
Walking and cycling enable zero-emission trips and contribute to the individuals’ and the societal quality of life. However, poorly designed or maintained infrastructure, lack of safe transfer to complementary modes, uncertain motorized users’ behavior towards pedestrians and cyclists, owing also to minimum education and awareness building initiatives, are some of the hurdles to the desired uptake of walking and cycling as true alternatives to private car travel. Submissions to this thematic track would address the challenges relating to all aspects of active traveling, including:
- walking and cycling infrastructure
- pedestrians and cyclists’ safety
- walkability in the natural and built environment
- active mobility, health and quality of life
- integration of active mobility in intermodal transport
